Fisd Cup exit may be blessing in disguise for drop-battle Dwangwa - Malawi Nyasa Times - Malawi breaking news in Malawi

Dwangwa  United Team Manager Dave Mwandira says his side’s FISD Challenge Cup agonizing early exit is somehow ‘a blessing in disguise’ since they will now fully concentrate in safeguarding their place in the TNM Super League which has currently reached a boiling point.

Mwandira said this in an interview with reporters after watching his team losing 4-1 to giants Nyasa Big Bullets at the Chitowe Stadium on Wednesday.

“Trying to balance up Cup and League games always proves to be difficult so in other words bowing out of the FISD Cup will give us achance to fully concentrate on the league” said Mwandira.

He added that the main focus is saving Dwangwa from relegation in the TNM Super League.

Dwangwa have re-discovered their form in the second-round of the league, having lost only once, drawn twice and won thrice in six games.

He assured all Dwangwa United fans of his team’s survival in the league.

“I am promising all our fans that we will do everything to make sure that we remain in the league,”he said.

The team is currently not in comfort zone as they seat two places above the relegation zone.

It is currently on position 12 of the 16 member log table with 22 points from 21 games.

They will this weekend play host to fellow strugglers Zomba based soldiers Red Lions who are placed on 13th position with 20 points from 19 games.
